when is the right time to measure?
In most cases this measurement is used prior when performing high jump testing. This help helps determine the height of the athletes’ vertical jump.
equipment
Vertec equipment or Measuring tape or marked wall, Chalk for marking wall.
purpose
This test will help in determining the athletes’ overall vertical jump.
procedure
The athlete stands below the Vertec and reach up with his/her preferred hand. If using a wall, have the athlete stand side on to a wall and reach up with the hand closest to the wall.
Keeping the feet flat on the ground, have the athlete displace as many slats as possible on the Vertec. If using the wall, the point of the fingertips is marked or recorded to the nearest centimetre or ½ inch.
